Hudson Is Here September 30, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 3:42 am

Just wanted to let everyone know that Hudson arrived today at 3:08pm (the 29th) and weighed in at 8lbs 5oz and is 21 inches long.  Labor was much harder and pretty painful because he was turned sideways and poor Hudson suffered a broken collarbone because of it.  But all is well and they say he should heal just fine.  He even gets to wear a little bandage to keep his arm immobilized.  We’re thinking he might make a good pirate with his arm sling for Halloween.  Harper is doing just fine also and was really sweet to her brother when they met.  Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers.  Also if you have sent me an email about an order it will be a few days before I will be responding and any current orders I am working on are now on hold for a few days.  Thanks again.

New Letter H x2 September 25, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 12:38 am

This first order is for Angie, who also ordered the turkey shirt. A while back, over a year ago, Angie ordered a W for her son Weston and now is expecting another little boy Holden. So she needed a large H for him as well. She wanted the colors to correspond since the boys will be sharing a room. I think it turned out too cute and I appreciate your business Angie, once again.

This second H is actually in my little Hudson’s room. I needed something small, handsome and simple for over his changing table. My normal letters are 24 inches and this letter is only 12 inches high. So it’s much smaller and more simple.

And this is just an extra little added project I wanted to share, but my cousin Rebecca who is mom to Grant and Garrett is expecting her third little one. Becca has been in a household of all boys all by herself, but now she is going to have a little girl, Natalie Grace, to keep her company. So I decided to make some cute girly burp cloths to congratulate Becca on finally getting a girl. Welcome to the girls club Bec…we can’t wait to meet Natalie.

Turkey Time September 23, 2008

This order was placed by Angie in Collierville.  She wanted a cute turkey shirt for her son Weston to wear at an early Thanksgiving family gathering.  I got right on it and love how this turkey turned out.  Thanks Angie for your business.  I know Weston will be super handsome in his new turkey shirt.

Cherry Blossom September 23, 2008

This order was placed by India, from Jackson, for the cherry blossom painting I did a while back for my niece Meiya.  India has good friends who are adopting a little girl, Molly, from Korea and wanted to give them a very special gift.  This family has been waiting 30 months for this sweet baby.  I can’t imagine, but they are finally about to bring her home.  I wish this family all the best and thank you again India for your business.

Take 1 Birthday Bib September 20, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 10:47 pm

This order was placed by Vonda, who also ordered the Cate Inchworm shirt for her little girl when she turned 3. And now her other little girl Stella is turning 1. Check out the cute invitation that Melissa over at The Patty Cake Press created. They are doing a movie theme party and Vonda wanted me to create a bib for little Stella. They are using pinks and oranges. When I think of movies I think of those “Take 1″ signs that they use in between scenes. It took Josh, our friend Tyler and myself a little bit of time, but we finally found out they are called clapboards. Just a little movie production knowledge for you. Anyways I think the bib turned out great and I hope Vonda loves it. And I hope Stella looks super cute in it. Thanks again for your business Vonda.

For Nieces and a Nephew September 15, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 6:08 pm

I offered to all my sister-in-laws to make fall shirts for the nieces and nephews if they would like and so far I have been making pumpkin’s almost every night.  Last night I finished up McKinley and Jack’s pumpkin shirts.  I ended up getting a dark green long sleeved onesie for Jack’s shirt and thought it turned out pretty handsomely.  I wish I had found this color before doing Hudson’s, but oh well.  Also I made my little niece Lyla a shirt to go with her birthday present.  She will be 2 in October and with Hudson so close to being here, I’m just not sure how much free time I will have once he arrives.  Needless to say I am packing in as much crafting as I can before he arrives and trying to wrap up any gift giving that needs to still be completed.  I’m a big birthday person, so I want to be prepared for all up and coming birthdays.  And I can’t wait to get pictures of all the cousins in their matching fall shirts.  I know they are going to too cute.

Surfs Up September 13, 2008

This order was placed by Ellen for a surfing baby set. A friend of hers, who lives in San Diego and is totally into surfing, is pregnant with a little boy due in January. His room is going to be done in a surfing theme, so Ellen thought a surfboard baby set would be perfect. I think it turned out great and hope the dad and mom-to-be love it as well.

Monster Bag September 13, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 12:37 am

I know it’s a little far fetched, but I do want Hudson to go trick-or-treating with Harper this year. So he needs a bag to collect all his goodies. Josh thought it seemed a little silly to buy a 1 month old a trick-or-treat bag, so I got right to work on making him one. I love how this turned out. I imagine Hudson loving this crazy monster bag and getting super excited to get it out every year at Halloween. Also let me make note that the bag has tons of sparkle to it. Not sure if you can tell in the picture.

A Pumpkin For Hudson September 12, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 3:22 am

I must say I am really enjoying being back at home and getting all the things done I wanted to before Hudson arrives.  I have finished his birth announcements (minus the picture), Halloween cards (minus the picture), birthday shopping and cards for Josh, my brother Chris, my little cousin Garrett and my little niece Lyla, Hudson’s art piece for his room, Harper’s fall shirt, a fall shirt for Lyla and now tonight I finished Hudson’s fall shirt.  I have been sticking with a pumpkin for these fall shirts, just so the kids can wear them longer.  This way once Halloween has come and gone, they can still sport them through November for Thanksgiving.  So check out Hudson’s shirt.  I love the fat little pumpkin and short stubby stem.  I can’t wait to see how cute he is going to be in this.

Hudson’s Art September 10, 2008

Filed under: Uncategorized — lkelley @ 11:40 pm

Hudson’s room is finally starting to come together and today I finally finished the piece for over his crib.  I wanted to do a mixed media piece that included his name and a verse and it took me some time to figure out exactly how I wanted it to look.  I finally decided I wanted his name to be very subtle and the verse to stand out.  This piece also took quite a bit of time, but I really love how it turned out.   I used tons of layered paper, a stitched border, Hudson’s name in the background antiqued and then the verse written over the top of all of this.  I used paper, charcoal, oil pastels, ink, acrylic paint and thread.   I went with a 12×48 canvas size, which is perfect for over his crib.  I used the verse, “But you man of God…pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.” 1 Timothy 6:11  I can’t wait for him to arrive and one day to know that his momma made this just for him.

And here is Harper asleep in her big girl bed.  I went in to check on her before bed the other night and just thought she looked way too cute to not risk taking a picture of her.  I think my camera took a great picture for it being pitch black.  Anyways, she loves her new big girl bed.
